We created them in the Stream C:

Moss Stone is an ironsmith. He is one of the few in Equestria who will actually create weapons if you ask. Lights met him as a filly and took whatever you could consider Light's equivalent of a liking to him. After seeing him craft a few swords, she asked if she could have one of her own. He made her a knife and taught her how to use it. One day, though, Lights injured herself and ended up in the care of Typhoon, a local paramedic. Enraged that a pony would give a weapon to a child, he confronted Moss- but it was love at first sight. X3

As Lights grew older, Moss eventually crafted her a wider variety of knives and a shortsword. Most ponies are puzzled or outright terrified by Light's hobby, seeing as violence and war are things Equestria hasn't seen for ages, so knives are a somewhat scary thing.
